OCEAN FISHING CALIFORNIA

OCEAN FISHING

The waters off the West Coast are home to some of the most beautiful and wild Ocean Fishing grounds in the world. We have had the pleasure of fishing these waters first hand and have broke down a few of our favorite go to sport boat landings, islands, gear and techniques that work for us. Hopefully these tips will help guide you to a successful session out on the water.

OUR LOCAL ISLANDS

Channel Islands- The Channel Islands consist of five incredible islands, Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel and Santa Barbara Island. Home to some of the most incredible ocean fishing in the Pacific, our main target species when fishing these islands are Rock Fish, Lingcod and Halibut. Of course these islands are home to an array of game fish like Yellowtail and White Seabass but the rock fishing at these islands are second to none.

Santa Catalina Island- World famous Catalina island is one of California’s most frequented island and home to some of the best fishing around. We love targeting big home guard Yellowtail and hugging the coastline targeting Calico Bass in the expansive kelp forests surrounding the island.

Coronado Islands- A few miles south of San Diego in Mexican waters you will find the tiny but bountiful island cluster called the Coronado Islands. Home to some of the best Yellowtail and Bass fishing around and if conditions are right you might bump into a school of cooperative tuna.

San Nicolas Island- Quite the journey to this outer island but the miles travelled are always well worth it. Home to some massive rockfish, sheephead and halibut, San Nicolas Island is a prehistoric fishing ground with very little traffic and bountiful amounts of fish!

San Clemente Island- Another outer island thats home to massive schools of game fish. Similar to San Nicolas, this island takes some time getting to but is a fisherman’s paradise. San Clemente is our go to destination when targeting trophy fish, especially the powerful Pacific Bluefin Tuna! Plus, boat traffic is always light…nothing but miles and miles of ocean. Ocean fishing at its finest!
